Government agency apprehends fake radiographers
The spokesperson of the RRBN, Maimuna Wakawa, advised hospitals to make sure they register with the agency so that it can detect more impersonators.
According to Punch, the quack operators worked at the following hospitals, Amanda Hospital, O/C Medical and X-ray Services, Holy Rosary Hospital; Christina Hospital; and Mothercare Diagnostic Centre, all in Owerri, Imo State.
Maimuna Wakawa, the spokesperson of the association released a press statement in Abuja on Friday, July 1, 2016, where he quoted the the registrar and the chief executive of the board, Mr. Michael Okpaleke.
Wakawa in his statement said the agency “clamped down on the hospitals in order to rid the radiography practice of quacks and quackery.”
Reaffirming the agency’s commitment to dispensing its duties, the spokesperson said the role of the RRBN is “to monitor and regulate the activities of personnel who administer X-rays on people to know if they are qualified.”
In a final note, Wakawa appealed to hospitals who operate X-ray services to register with the agency for quality monitoring.
