Army Arrest Fake Boko Haram Member

This young man, Lawrence Ugwu, has been arrested for posing as a Boko Haram member.

The was Nigerian youths hustle to make ends meet is really getting out of hand as this young man, Lawrence Ugwu, who has been parading himself as member of the violent Islamic insurgents, Boko Haram, has been arrested by the Defence Headquarters.

Ugwu's mode of operation was creating panic by sending out text messages, threatening of an impending Boko Haram attack and telling them that as a senior member of the sect, he could stop the attack if some money is paid to him to bribe other top officials of the group.

Ugwu's cup was full when he was said to have sent threat messages to over 10 hotels in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, saying his men had mapped out strategies to bomb their facilities but that he could stop the attack if he is paid some money.

One of the hotels reported the matter to security operatives who used the numbers Ugwu used to send the messages, in collaboration with some telecom service providers, to track and arrest him.

In his confession, Lawrence Ugwu said that he is not a terrorist and does not even know any member of the insurgents but that he was using the tactics to survive the harsh economic condition of the country.

He also stated that one of the hotels he threatened had refused to employ him, and he wanted to instil fear into the mind of the chairman.
