28-yr-old man breaks spinal cord of friend for disrespecting him

A 28-year-old car wash attendant in Lagos, Michael Taiwo, felt a friend of his was not respecting him enough and allegedly broke his spinal cord after a fight ensued between them.

According to, Taiwo and Akeem Amoo were boyhood friends in the Alagbado area of Lagos State before the recent fight.

The rancour started after Taiwo who is older accused Akeem Amoo of always disrespecting him.

On this fateful day, (Wednesday, January 28) Amoo, after the close of work as an Okada man around 8pm,drove to a car wash at Omisesan Junction – where Taiwo works – to wash his motorcycle.

Taiwo reportedly accused Amoo grazing his leg with the motorcycle which led to an argument.

During the scuffle that ensued, Taiwo was said to have lifted Amoo and smashed him to the floor, damaging his spinal cord in the process.

Akem Amoo was an orthopaedic hospital in Lagos where a doctor confirmed that his spinal cord has been damaged.

Taiwo was arrested and charged to court.

At an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court sitting on Monday, February 9, Taiwo was charged with assault.

Taiwo however pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail by the presiding Magistrate, Mrs. T. Akani, in the sum of N100,000.

The case was adjourned till Monday March 23, 2015.
