Arrested Cocaine Dealer Wanted Money For Father’s Burial

Agu Ifeanyi Kingsley said he had travelled to Brazil in search of a better life but was instead forced to sell cocaine in order to raise money.

A Nigerian man who was formerly resident in Brazil has been arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos after he was found in possession of cocaine.

Agu Ifeanyi Kingsley said he had travelled to Brazil in search of a better life but was instead forced to do drugs in order to raise money, Vanguard reports.

Agu also added that his father’s death compounded his situation as he was put under pressure to raise money for the burial.

“I travelled to Brazil in April this year when my clothes business was almost down. But the few months I spent in Brazil were even worse than it was in Nigeria.”

“As if that was not enough, I received news of my father’s death and I had no money for my flight ticket. Bringing cocaine to Nigeria was my last hope of making some money because I was promised N800,000.”

Agu was arrested with 1.650kg of cocaine after coming into the country on an Emirates flight from Dubai.

Two other suspects who had the illicit drug in their possession were also arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
