Manhunt ongoing for quadruple murder suspect

Authorities in New York searched Brooklyn Thursday for a man wanted in connection with the quadruple murder of a family and its housekeeper in Washington, D.C., officials said.

Daron Dylon Wint, 34, has likely fled to Brooklyn, New York Police Department Commissioner William Bratton said. Officers fanned out across the borough in search of Mr. Wint, who is believed to have family and friends in the borough, Mr. Bratton said following a City Council hearing.

Mr. Wint’s girlfriend was also taken in for questioning Thursday in Brooklyn.

Savvas Savopoulos, his wife, Amy, 10-year-old son Phillip and their house keeper Veralicia Figueroa were bludgeoned to death on May 14 inside their home on Woodland Drive in Washington D.C., authorities said. Their bodies were discovered after firefighters responded to a blaze at the home in the upscale neighborhood near Vice President Joe Biden‘s official residence.

Authorities describe Mr. Wint as approximately 5-foot-7 and weighing approximately 155 lbs., authorities said.

“Right now, you have just about every law enforcement officer across the country that is aware of his open warrant and are looking for him. Even his family has made pleas for him to turn himself in,” D.C. police Chief Cathy Lanier said during a news conference Thursday.
