A social media rant by an undergraduate at the University of Kansas (KU) against his ex-girlfriend has led to his expulsion from the institution.

Navid Yeasin was expelled after he called the girl a “psycho bitch” on Twitter, even though he did not name the girl in question.

Also, the girl did not see the tweet and he posted the tweet when he was off campus.

But KU lawyers argue that he created a “hostile environment” for his ex on-campus.

They said his actions was a violation under the federal law known as Title IX which prohibits US citizens from discriminating on the basis of sex in any federally-funded education program or activity.

According to reports, Yeasin had been warned by KU authorities to stop contacting the girl after their relationship collapsed

He was also asked not to harass the woman in any way, including making social media references.

The student was also warned after he first started writing about her on Twitter but he continued and even detained her in a car during a confrontation.

Yeasin argues that he did all he was accused of but none happened on school property.

He argues that the expulsion violated his right to free speech.

Yeasin's stand had continued to gain support from groups that argue that his actions occurred off campus.
