A former student of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, and 'daughter' of Dr Deji Adejobi, a lecturer of the institution who was assassinated at his residence by unidentified gunmen, has written a very touching tribute.

Taiwo Adebusola Oredipe in her tribute said the late don treated her like his own first daughter from her days as a fresher at the university until she graduated.

She narrated a very intimate relationship that involved both her family and his and ended by saying "I will surely miss you!"

Read the full tribute below:

Oh my Dr Deji Adejobi...where do I start from!

The first time I met you was in 2007 when my dad asked Mr MK to drop me at the mere sight of you and leave me there with you...I was just a common innocent fresher...

I do remember my dads exact words "drop e fun Deji ki won Jo ma bayii"...

You picked me up like your first daughter and you helped me with my registration and accommodation...

Unlike many other Year One students I didn't get to stay in their great Mozambique...I got a room in Moremi hall..thanks to you! From my first year to Finals you were there with every step all the way....I was never bothered about my bed-space in Moremi yearly!

The weekend you took me to your home and introduced me to your wife I can never forget and ever since then Road 9 became my weekend/ first semester break home till we moved to your new home at the dawn...

I remember the times we met at different social joints in Ife and you always tell me "Taiwo ki lo se ni bi bai...ma so fun Oga" I wonder why my dad never asked me! Obviously you never reported me to my dad...

What about our wonderful road trip to Abuja...You kept on asking me to talk till we got to Lokoja and bought me a very nice meal...watched me finished the whole bowl of rice and you laughed at me and asked "why didn't I tell you I was hungry all along"....

What about my convocation?

I remembered I told you I didn't want no party or visitors...Just you, your wife and my dad! I didn't even sleep in your house just to avoid party preparations and all...the following morning we left for Amphi theatre together and after the program only for me to find out you actually planned a big party at your department and your wife did all the cooking...you also went ahead and asked my dad to bring everyone he could!

Most people didn't know your family and mine are not related by blood because I kept on telling everyone who cares to know that you are my uncle....what about the other road trips to Orile Owu with your family or the day we all went to register for our voter's cards...

My very own "De-Clerk" the name your wife calls you every time you up to something in the house....when I went home two weeks ago I was with you on the 3rd/4th of July...I almost passed you by...You called my name and said "Taiwo O ni ki mi abi" ....You were sitting on this same spot in this picture when you told me "Bola ti lo bayii iwo ni next" ...

We all left for Asiwaju court...we all chatted with your whole family till you left for the hotel...In the morning you came back to the house and I asked if you would take my friend Bunmi to Ibadan for me like I bought the car or fuel...You accepted without hesitation!

When dad sent me message around 2am on Wednesday morning that "We lost Dr Deji Adejobi to Killers three hours ago" I read it and went back to sleep! I actually thought I was dreaming! I woke to see your face on DPs then I remembered I got a message on my phone!....

Your death is a painful one!

My beloved Uncle Deji Sleep on and continue to rest on thy saviour's breast...we love thee well but Jesus loves thee best! Goodnight Uncle...To those behind his assassination! I hope you are all happy now? ....your generations shall know No peace! Too hard for me to say goodbye for all apparent reasons why...Even though we all know each heart will someday stop to beat when the rhythm of life and silence finally meet...

To cry will do no worldly good! A lost that can't be replaced yet life must once again be face! O Death you do not win once again! I do not blame God, for he knows what is best...

You were his loved one...So he gave you rest!

I will surely miss you!
