The former Vice Chancellor of Fountain University, Osogbo, Prof. Hussein Oloyede says Muslim bodies should establish more Islamic universities in Nigeria.

There is an urgent need for the establishment of new Islamic Universities in Nigeria, says a former Vice Chancellor of Fountain University, Osogbo in Osun State, Prof. Hussein Oloyede.

Speaking at the 1436 Conference of the Companion in llorin, Oloyede said Muslim communities should establish more universities to support the Fountain University that was established by NASSFAT about 20 years ago.

“We have serious challenges of Islamic University, we are yet to see the result," he said.

Noting that some Muslims have set up private universities, the don said Islamic societies have not done enough towards establishing any.

He tasked the Companion as well as other Islamic societies to see to the establishment of at least more Islamic universities.

The Companion is an organisation of Muslim men in business and the professions established in 1984 in Lagos, Nigeria.
