Madu Chisom Kingdavid, a 200 Level student of History and International Studies at Imo State University, has emerged winner of the #PulseStudentPoetry Prize Season 1 (April).
200 Level Student Wins Lenovo Laptop In Student Pulse Poetry Contest!
...all Madu Chisom Kingdavid did was write an 8-line poem, share it and he won a Lenovo ThinkPad!
The young poet will be going home with our ultimate prize, a Lenovo Laptop.
Kingdavid's poem, , a serenade, came first after a week of voting, garnering a total of 1367 votes in form of fan shares, tweets and on-site comments to narrowly edge out second-placed Izuchukwu O. Udokwu whose dirge, , polled 1266 votes.
James Ademuyiwa Jamesconco's came third with 545 votes while in fourth place is Onyekwere Adolphus Kachi's poem . Justice Gift Ogochukwu’s brought up the rear with 82 votes.
Speaking with Pulse Students after learning of the results, an excited Kingdavid said winning the laptop will go a long way to help his academic pursuit.
"The laptop will help me a lot. It will help me in doing my assignments, researching, editing my unpublished manuscripts and especially browsing."
Kingdavid, known for his African themes, won the Eriata Oribhabor Poetry Prize in 2013 and his victory will not come as a surprise to many.
