Jubilation as Kwara govt announces N5k allowance for corps members

Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed represented by Susan Oluwole announced the monthly allowance for the corps members.

This was announced on Monday, November 12, 2018, by the state's Head of Service, Susan Oluwole, who represented the Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed at the NYSC camp.

Earlier in April 2018, the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki assured corps members serving in Kwara State of the payment of monthly allowances from the state government.

Similarly, Ebonyi state government is planning to  iin the state to N10,000.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, during his recent visit to the scheme’s orientation camp in Afikpo, promised to increase the corps members’ monthly allowance from N5,000 to N10,000.

The Chairman of the NYSC governing board in the state, Charles Akpuenika announced the proposed increase in the corps members allowance on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, while speaking to NAN correspondents.

The National Youth Service Corps is a one year program for all eligible university, polytechnic and monotechnic graduates in Nigeria.

The NYSC scheme was created in May 1973 as part of the Federal Government's effort to reconstruct, reconcile and rebuild the country after the Nigerian Civil war.
