APC chairman says Tinubu's statement was a bit harsh

John Oyegun has revealed that Bola Tinubu's call for his resignation was a bit harsh after the two politicians reportedly fell out.

On Tuesday, October 4, 2016, Oyegun stressed that there is no rift with the ex-Governor of Lagos though he admitted they both have different opinion and perception.

“There is no rift with Asiwaju; we have difference of opinion, difference of perception, and I think that is normal,” Oyegun said.

In a report by TheCable, Oyegun said though Tinubu had called for his resignation, it won't be happening on the pages of newspapers as there are laid down steps to achieve such requests.

In the words of Oyegun: “Yes, I agree that the nature of the statement was a bit harsh. The method of getting rid of a national chairman, if that is what I will call it, are spelt out in the constitution; they don’t take place on the pages of newspapers.”

On Monday, October 3, 2016, Oyegun and Tinubu exchanged pleasantries and shook hands when they met at the book launch in honour of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Oyegun and Tinubu fell out after the APC governorshipprimary election in Ondo state and both have reportedly avoided each other like a plague.

Following the reported fall out, Tinubu had gone ahead to call for the resignation of Oyegun with ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Timi Frank, deputy national publicity secretary of the APC, backing him.
