‘Probe Fashola administration,’ Lagos PDP urges governor

The PDP further stated that Fashola’s administration was characterized by human rights violations and looting of public funds.

The Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to investigate the administration of his predecessor, Babatunde Fashola.

This was contained in a statement released on Sunday, June 21, 2015, by PDP Lagos spokesperson, Taofik Gani.

It reads:

“On behalf of all concerned Lagosians, we call on the Governor Ambode to immediately set up a commission of enquiry to investigate the eight years of Fashola administration. The need for this is apt in view of the cases of Human Rights abuse witnessed during the period, especially perpetrated by the State Task force and Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) officers.”

“No doubt the hands of the former governor are not clean considering that in spite the officially corroborated monthly Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) of N27 billion; N9 to1 N3 billion monthly Federal Government Allocation; SURE-P Funds; Corporate donations and concessionaires interventions, the former governor left office with over 85 per cent of his projects and promises unfulfilled.”

“Imagine all the canals purportedly contracted to be cleared and channeled are all blocked. Our people are now suffering from consequential flooding, which must be investigated.”

“As a matter of urgency, Mr. Ambode should review or terminate some elephant projects that were initiated by the Fashola’s administration. Most of the projects are really prodigal and of no relevance to the masses. Example is the huge Lagos funds sunk as partner/investor in the ongoing Eko Atlantic Project.”

“Mr Ambode is administratively, legally and morally compelled to commence these enquiries if only to clear the doubts. Lagosians are eager to supply evidence of corruption in the eight years of the Fashola administration.”

Ambode took over from Fashola on Friday, May 29.
