Ex-President’s autobiography sells out in 3 days

Obasanjo launched the controversial book on Tuesday, December 9, despite a court order restraining him from doing so.

According to reports, former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s autobiography, “My Watch”, has sold out after only being on sale for three days.

An associate of Obasanjo told Sahara Reporters:

“Baba [President Obasanjo] sold all the copies that were brought in.”

The former president’s book has attracted controversy due to its criticism of President Goodluck Jonathan and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar among others.

A court in Abuja had ordered Obasanjo to refrain from publishing the book and after he went ahead with the launch, the judge ordered that all copies of the book on sale should be seized by security agents. Obasanjo has appealed this decision.

A source close to the former president also said that the Department of State Security Services (DSSS) is refusing to allow more copies of the book to be brought into the country.

"The SSS people have told us that they won’t allow more copies of the book into the country,” the source said.

Obasanjo, in his book, describes President Jonathan as incompetent and Atiku as a shameless liar.
