PDP expels Obasanjo

Obasanjo’s expulsion from the party was announced by the state PDP on Monday, February 16, after the former President tore his membership card in public.

The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled former President, Olusegun Obasanjo.

Obasanjo’s expulsion from the party was announced by the state PDP on Monday, February 16, after the former President tore his membership card in public, Punch reports.

“The totality of the executive, leaders and members of PDP family in the Ogun hereby state categorically as from today Monday 16 February, 2015, Obasanjo Olusegun stands expelled and excommunicated from the party thereby losing all rights previous, privileges and respect of our teeming party members," the state PDP Chairman, Bayo Dayo said.

The former President tore the card during a meeting with PDP leaders who visited his Abeokuta home to urge him to stop criticizing President Goodluck Jonathan.

The former President has repeatedly criticized Jonathan and on Saturday, February 14, accused him of attempting to tamper with the upcoming general elections.
