APC UK says reconciling aggrieved members crucial to victory

The Spokesperson of the chapter, Jacob Ogunseye, said this in a statement, a copy of which was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Abuja.

The Spokesperson of the chapter, Jacob Ogunseye, said this in a statement, a copy of which was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Abuja.

He described the recent appointment of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reconcile aggrieved members of the party by President Muhammadu Buhari as an herculean task.

According to him, no individual within the party can best handle the task than Tinubu, who is one of its leaders as he must not fail in the assignment.

“The reconciliation of aggrieved party members is very crucial for the success of the party at all levels, most especially as the election year draws nearer.

“The best person for the task has been given the job and we are confident that we will come out stronger.

“It will be wrong to say that we have not noticed conflicts in some chapters of the party across Nigeria.

“But with the personality of Tinubu, these disputes will definitely become a part of the history of our great party, he said.

The statement also said that a chieftain of the party in the United Kingdom, Mr Ade Omole applauded Buhari for giving Tinubu the task.

He noted that the internal crisis within the party was already taking its toll on the general well-being of the country, including its social transformation.

“The visible rancor between the Executive and Legislative arms of government is a distraction we can do without. We are hopeful and trusting the leaders that the party will come out stronger,’’ Omole said.

He, therefore, urged the party leaders across the country to support Tinubu and ensure that he does not fail in the task.

Omole said the reconciliation within the party was required to revive its state chapters, rally party members and put it on the right track toward success in 2019 elections.

NAN reports that Buhari appointed Tinubu to lead the APC team of consultation, reconciliation and confidence-building.

His assignment among other things, was to forge cohesion within the APC ahead of the 2019 general elections as well as resolve disagreements among party members and leaders.

It also involves reconciling political office holders in some APC-controlled states and addressing crises in the party`s troubled chapters, especially in Kano, Kogi, Kaduna, Bauchi, and Cross River states among others.
