Movie gets online release

The controversial comedy movie on the assassination of North Korea's president 'The Interview' gets released on YouTube Movies, Google Play, Microsoft's Xbox Video and Sony's website.

Following the cancellation of the premiere of the much controversial movie 'The Interview', Sony has made the movie available on different  online platforms including YouTube Movies, Google Play, Microsoft's Xbox Video and Sony's website www.seetheinterview.com.

“We never stopped pursuing as wide a release as possible for The Interview. It was essential for our studio to release this movie, especially given the assault upon our business and our employees by those who wanted to stop free speech.

We chose the path of digital distribution first so as to reach as many people as possible on opening day, and we continue to seek other partners and platforms to further expand the release." Sony Entertainment said.

Following the online release of the controversial movie, President Barack Obama has applauded Sony, stating that America is a country that believes in free speech.
