With the sophisticated air of a queen about her, Seyi Shay's  interest in music began at the age of six when she started performing and was part of her secondary school choir.

Born and raised in London, England to Nigerian parents in December, 21 1985, Shay is a Nigerian based English singer-songwriter, recording artist, performer, and record producer.

The feisty singer with her show stopping outfits and energetic performances was influenced musically by members of her household. Her late mother was a chorister and her sister used to compose songs for TV.

She studied music at a local college in the United Kingdom, and went on to study Business Management at the University of East London.

Although her musical style is primarily a combination of pop and R&B, Shay revealed she doesn't conform to a particular genre of music.

She believes that her musical prowess spans different genres.
