Nigerian mobile Internet users hit record 97.21 million - regulator

Mobile telecoms companies have a lion share of the 1.84 million extra users that have since signed up for mobile Internet services.

The NCC has announced in its latest release of statistical data that the number of mobile internet users on Nigeria’s telecom networks had reached 97.21 million as at September 30, 2015 compared to the 95.37 million subscribers garnered in August.

Mobile telecoms companies have a lion share of the 1.84 million extra users that have since signed up for mobile Internet services.

MTN Nigeria lead the four major networks with 41.84 million subscribers browsing the Internet on its network, Globacom coming second with 21.89 million subscribers on its network for the same month.

In the third spot is Airtel Nigeria, posting 17.73 subscribers – an increase of 235,941. Etisalat Nigeria came in fourth with 15.59 million subscribers.

CDMA operators Multi-Links and Visafone had a joint total 151,816 subscribers on their network for the month under review.
