Twitter co-founder leads $3 million round in Indian startup

Biz Stone and Lookup founder and CEO, Deepak Ravindran

India-based startup Lookup announced yesterday that it raised $3 million in a round led by Twitter co-founder Biz Stone.

The app lets local shoppers and businesses contact each other, so customers can place orders, check prices, availability and book appointments through chat.

“I am extremely thrilled that Biz Stone is personally investing in our Series A round,” said Deepak Ravindran, Lookup’s founder and CEO. “It is almost surreal.”

The app launched on Android in October 2014 and made its way to iOS in March. The very same month Facebook announced its Messenger platform, enabling users to chat directly with businesses – perfect timing.

According to VentureBeat, Lookup declined to share how much Stone invested and neither would it reveal other participating investors.
