Readers say the government has failed to provide enough houses for Nigerians

Nigeria currently faces a huge 17 million housing deficit.

This means that it would take at least 17 million houses to satisfy the housing needs of Nigerians.

While revealing the company's plan to provide housing estates in Ogun State, Abuja and other parts of the Central Northern region, Dotun Oloyede, spoke on the necessity of this plan.

"Nigeria is not a country where the government pays attention to the masses or provide for its citizens. There is a huge housing deficit, outrageous rents and lots of other inconveniences that Nigerian’s have to grapple with yet the government seems so unconcerned,” he stated.

However, things seem to be looking up as the President, Muhammadu Buhari, has just promised to deliver on his party's campaign promise to build one million houses annually.

This will turn out to be a very tall order unless the Federal Government builds 250,000 units, and the 22 APC States together manage another 250,000 units.
