Government issues 1,000 C of O's

The Ogun State government, under its Home Ownership scheme, approved 1000 certificates of occupancy and building plan approval certificates to residents of the state.

Ogun state has a population of about 3.8 million people, according to the 2006 population census. Obviously, this figure has increased over time and as such the property landscape has also changed because an increase in the population means a corresponding increase in the demand for property.

However, investors are usually discouraged due to the high cost of land acquisition and the recent antics of scammers. In light of this the need for easy access to land approval and registration is highly emphasized since these factors play a key role in determining the affordability of homes and the pace of housing developments.

In a move to correct this, the Ogun State government, under its Home Ownership scheme, approved 1000 certificates of occupancy and building plan approval certificates to residents of the state.

The presentation, which took place over the weekend, was made by the state governor Ibikunle Amosun. Represented by the state attorney general and commissioner for justice, Mrs. Abimbola Akeredolu, the governor said that the scheme has increased the issuance of certificates of occupancy and building plan approvals. He also said that difficulties and bottlenecks encountered in the past have been greatly reduced.
