The Ugandan shilling posted modest gains on Friday, supported by a mop up of liquidity by the central bank worth 72 billion shillings ($21.40 million) and subdued demand for dollars as firms kept shillings to meet mid-month tax payments.

At 0921 GMT commercial banks quoted the shilling at 3,365/3,375, compared with Thursday's close of 3,370/3,380.
