Tom Hanks Found a Guy With Woody From Toy Story Tattooed on His Belly and Quite Frankly We Have Questions

Tom Hanks posted a selfie on Twitter with a guy's very strange belly tattoo of Woody from Toy Story. Despite this, Hanks is still a national treasure. Toy Story 4 is out in June.

Tom Hanks is a lot of things-an actor, a dad, a humanitarian, Mister Rogers next year, a legend. But is Tom Hanks someone you'd want on your belly forever? Not even Tom Hanks, but a toy cowboy voiced by Tom Hanks?

The 62-year old actor shared a photo on Twitter Thursday morning of him posing for a selfie with a gentleman who had a somewhat crudely-drawn tattoo of Woody, Hanks' Toy Story character, on his chest and belly. The photo is jarring. Hanks was on TODAY this morning for a Military charity event, so it's possible that's where this photo was taken. We don't want to speak ill of any veterans, but this tattoo might be considered a crime against humanity in certain circles.

Upon seeing this image for the first time, a number of unanswerable questions come up. And by unanswerable, we mean that there's really no way to answer them. A few of those lingering thoughts, below:

What led to the moment of this man revealing his bare chest to Tom Hanks?

What was going through Tom Hanks head both in the moment as this man was revealing his chest, and in the immediate aftermath of seeing his tattoo?

Does Tom Hanks have interactions with die-hard fans like this often?

If so, why have we not seen a feature-length documentary of such interactions?

If not, why not?

A good answer to most of these questions, probably, isn't a direct answer, but rather a more promotional one: Toy Story 4 is out June 21. And any publicity, no matter how creepy, bizarre, or eccentric it might be, is good publicity. Tom Hanks has earned that goodwill because, well, he's Tom Hanks.

Before we go, we are going to need to talk about the piece of immaculate perfection that is Tom Hanks' Twitter account. As if Hanks wasn't already one of, if not the most beloved movie stars in America for the last 30 years, his presence online is also simply a delight. Signing every post "-Hanx" is a pure Dad move from someone whose been called "America's Dad," and snagging a picture with creepy Woody tattoo guy is just the latest in a chapter that's also included returning an ID to a very lucky Fordham student a few years ago.

Tom Hanks. A legend. Maybe not the greatest judge of a quality tattoo, but a legend nonetheless.
