Kevin smith is planning a vegan thanksgiving after recovering from heart attack
Since suffering a major heart attack back in February, the director adopted a vegan lifestyle and lost 50 pounds. Now, Smith is planning to start a new holiday tradition by hosting a vegan Thanksgiving dinner.
The 48-year-old and his daughter, fellow vegan Harley Quinn, partnered with Farm Sanctuary’s 33rd Annual Adopt a Turkey Project, opting to save a turkey instead of eating one, Page Six reports. In the promotional video, Smith said he is thankful Harley Quinn pushed him to go vegan after his health scare.
“I’m thankful I’m alive, and then I’m thankful for my kid who was like, ‘Yeah, go vegan.’ I’m thankful I got good advice. I’m thankful I followed it, to be honest,” he said.
The Clerks director has been actively working towards losing weight since recovering from his heart attack. The 48-year-old has documented his journey on Instagram and just last month he announced he’s at his lowest weight since high school. Besides adopting his vegan lifestyle, he also is an ambassador for Weight Watchers (now rebranded WW for Wellness Works), which he says has also contributed to his weight loss.
Smith said he won’t miss a thing about chowing down on the Thanksgiving bird since going vegan.
“I’ve been a vegan for over six months and there’s honestly nothing I miss," he said in the video.
