The one move that's guaranteed to shred your core

We asked trainer James McMillian to show us a move that works your entire core— and boy, did he deliver.

But we’d be remiss if we neglected the obliques, those muscles on the side of your torso that give you that awesome V-shape.

So we asked James McMillian, head trainer at Tone House, to teach us a move that works your entire core. And he delivered, as you’ll see in the video above.

“It’s a core-focused workout, and you need your core for every type of lift that you do,” he says. “So I call this an around-the-world-reverse-crunch.”

It’s a doozy. Start with a roller under your feet—but you could use anything that can move smoothly across a hard floor, such as a plate or a paper towel.

Get into a high plank position—legs out straight behind you, hands on the floor. Then bring your knees up to your chest, as you would in a reverse crunch. You’re starting to burn your lower abs here.

Then shoot your legs back and bring them around to your left side. You’re now hitting your obliques pretty hard, along with your entire core. When you’ve done that, do the same on the right. Do it "nice and slow," McMillian says.
