The novel with the same title was written by Nigerian author Lola Shoneyin and published in 2010.
The story is about an illiterate polygamous man, Baba Segi who has a large family consisting of three wives and seven children. Things take a different turn for the family when he marries an educated woman named Bolanle. His other three wives Iya Segi, Iya Tope and Iya Femi get jealous and plot ways to get rid of her in the process deep family secrets begin to unravel themselves.
The stage adaptation is by Caine award-winner Rotimi Babatunde. The production will feature original music and Yoruba lyrics composed by Oyebade Dosunmu. It will also feature choreography by Uche Onah.
The performance in London comes up on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Theatre Royal Stratford East, Gerry Raffles Square, London E15 1BN.
