'Thor' actor is the new Australian tourism ambassador

The country unveiled its new A$40 million "There's Nothing like Australia" campaign on Australia Day.

As if we needed any other fantastic reason to visit the faraway land of the Aussies, then Australia appoints Chris Hemsworth as its tourism ambassador.

The country unveiled its new A$40 million "There's Nothing like Australia" campaign on Australia Day.

The campaign seeks to appeal to an affluent traveller and hook them on our aquatic lifestyle.

Speaking on the project and Hemsworth involvement, John O'Sullivan, Tourism Australia's managing director said "Chris' voiceover provides the perfect compliment to our new creative and a special Australian feel to compliment the spectacular imagery,"

He further said:

"The fundamental premise of our 'There's Nothing like Australia' campaign is that Australia's natural beauty, wildlife, food and wine and cosmopolitan cities are unashamedly the heroes"

Also speaking on the selection of "The Avenger's" actor, O'Sullivan added "[His] was a name that came up constantly in discussions, as an authentic and influential Australian voice to help tell our country's aquatic and coastal story. Having grown up in Australia in and around water, Chris' own personal experiences — from learning how to surf on Phillip island, fishing with his brothers in the Northern Territory and family beach holidays — make him the perfect ambassador for this campaign,"

Hemsworth grew up on Victoria's Phillip Island, Australia with his 2 brother including Hollywood actor, Liam Hemsworth and recently moved back to his home country with his Spanish actress wife, Elsa Pataky and two young children.
