Music business seminar season 3 to hold March

DearArtiste is a social media initiative helping several upcoming Nigerian artistes who use social network as a music promotional tool.

DearArtiste™ started as a social media initiative to help several upcoming Nigerian artistes who use social network as a music promotional tool.

The desire to reach out and help came from coming across so many young people who have lofty dreams of becoming music superstars. Unfortunately, I observed that a lot of them fall under the pressure of trying to break into the industry and some get discouraged by the lack of acceptance and immediate success they hoped for, and so, let their dreams die.

Some in their desperation to be famous get involved in all sorts of shoddy arrangements without proper knowledge of how the industry works, and as a result, they get swindled and loose all faith.

The #Dearartiste social media platforms have been able to reach these artistes and give out words of advice on various subjects and also encourage and motivate them.

The DEARARTISTE FORUM takes a step further to ensure that more artistes are given the opportunity to learn first-hand from industry heads because no man is an island or a fountain of knowledge all by himself.

This forum provides an avenue where these upcoming artistes will meet with Artiste Managers, Producers, Label Owners, DJS, Radio Presenters, Publicists and other industry stake-holders.

Talks are given by these industry heads, there are question and answer sessions & successful artistes also share some of their personal experiences to inspire the new ones.

The maiden edition of this seminar held on the 4 of February 2012 was a massive success, as we recorded an attendance of above 200 artistes and the feedback has been amazing.

We also have a  DearArtiste™  website that artistes can use as a resource center for information on whatever aspect of their music career they need help in. articles are written on various topical issues about the music industry, and are available on the website.

We also have an in-house Entertainment Lawyer who writes articles on legal matters and a team of professionals who are on hand to answer questions asked by young artistes on our feedback page.

Other Areas that #Dearartiste supports artistes is through online music distribution and promotion, as well as PR and Publicity.

The #DearArtiste™ Seminar Season 2

As a result of the enormous success of the previous seminar, which led to the emergence of the DearArtiste™ Website, and the successful mentoring and grooming of various young artistes, we decided to take this forum to the next level by creating another avenue where young artistes as well as established ones can still learn something.

Taking a look at most of the questions asked on our feedback page on the website, Facebook page and questions tweeted at us, we identified the major areas of confusion for most of these emerging artistes.

We then hosted a seminar themed: The Artiste, His Career, His Management And The Law Of Contracts.

It held at The Sweet Sensation Seminar Hall, Opebi Lagos, on the 9 February 2013.
