MC Hammer – remember him? – is asking the IRS to stop chasing him over penalties on taxes spanning 7 years when, he has fully paid his debts a long time ago.
MC Hammer Slams The IRS – "I Don't Owe You Taxes"
The hip hop legend says he owes nobody so the IRS should back off!
The hip hop star declared bankruptcy in 1996 and in the process lost everything, including his master recordings and his most worldly possessions.
Reports say MC Hammer survived the poverty era by anteing up more than $7 million in 2007 and that amount included more than $1.4 million to the same IRS.
After 7 years he did that payment, the IRS is allegedly demanding another $1.4million and not the previous $800,000, claiming it's for penalties and interest on the delinquent 1996 taxes. Wait what! Can they really do that?
Well, now Hammer is filing legal documents asking a judge to block the IRS from collecting anything based on principles of fairness. He thinks it's a mockery.
