Skateboarding brand sells a brick for N9,000

Supreme which is popular with urban fashion lovers has started selling bricks for $30. The bricks have are being resold for up to $1000. That's 3 million Naira. Imagine buying a brick made from clay for that amount.

Well, when Supreme started selling the bricks, long queues popped up in several of their retail shops. Why is a skateboarding brand selling bricks and why are people going crazy over them?

As earlier stated Supreme is not your average brand, it is a cult brand and everything they put their logo on sells out. Everything from skateboards, socks, bottle openers, helmets, denim pants, baseball bats and bags are gobbled up by the army of Supreme hype beasts.

Established in New York in 1994, Supreme's popularity is now global. In 2012, Supreme t-shirts were popular in Nigeria. The aesthetic and minimalism of the Supreme brand have been able to appeal to millions of young people around the globe.

It is a running joke in the fashion industry in America that anything Supreme puts its famous rectangular box logo with the white font and red backdrop on will sell. Supreme bricks have further proven that theory to be right.

When a brand reaches cult status, it can basically sell anything. Apple could sell water and people will line up for H20 with the famous logo on it.

Supreme knows its power, and it is using it well to create a moment like this where people are lining up to buy a brick.
