Man cuts off his manhood due to abject poverty

A man in Kebbi has cut of his manhood because he was driven by poverty to commit suicide.

Usmanu Umaru, 67, has severed his penis with a knife belonging to him because he was driven by poverty to commit suicide.

The shocking incident took place in his room at Kofar Dindi neighborhood in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi, Leadership reports.

While speaking with a reporter, The victim’s nephew said that his uncle inflicted the cut on himself.

He narrated:

“Actually, we did not know why and for what reason he cut his private part. What actually happened is that my uncle was sick and lying in his room. We just heard his wife screaming in their room and when we rushed in, we met him holding a knife and in a pool of blood; so we rushed him to Federal Medical Centre to save his life because he lost a lot of blood."

When visited at the Male Surgical Ward 3, FMC, Birnin Kebbi, the doctors confirmed that Umaru is presently receiving treatment but in a state of coma.

His nephew said they need N37,000 for the operation. Some residents who live in the same residence with the victim said that he was mentally unstable but others said he confessed to cutting his manhood because he was stricken by poverty.
