The news that the airport in Enugu would be upgraded to international status was met with joy by residents and indigenes of the state.

However, it seems that their joy was short-lived.
Recent pictures of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport have flooded social media and they are not pleasant to see.
A Medview plane can be seen parked on a flooded runway while unfortunate passengers pile out of a plane and practically swim to the arrival lounge.

The relatively new airport was commissioned by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in May 2013.
