19-yr-old man arraigned for raping neighbour's 6-yr-old daughter

A 19-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping the 6-year-old daughter of his neighbour.

Rape must be condemned in totality.

Tunde Ahmed, a 19-year-old man resident at the Abule Odo area of Lagos State, could be spending a long time in prison if he is found guilty of raping the six-year-old daughter of his neighbour.

This is the case police prosecutor, ASP Soji Ojaokomo, is trying to establish at the Apapa Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Ahmed is being charged on two counts of indecent treatment of a child and child defilement.

ASP Ojaokomo told the court that the accused committed the offences on April 7 at his residence where he lives in the same building as the girl's parents, by luring her into his room, and defiled the girl by first dipping his finger into her private part before using his manhood.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 135 and137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, with section 135 stipulating that any person who unlawfully and indecently deals with a child is guilty of a felony and is liable to imprisonment for seven years while section 137 prescribes that any person who has sexual intercourse with a child is guilty of a felony and is liable to imprisonment for life.
