NACA Says 3.2m Nigerians Are Living With HIV

The National Agency for the Control of Aids has announced that 3.2 million Nigerians are currently living with HIV

The National Agency for the Control of Aids (NACA) has revealed that 3.2 million Nigerians are currently living with HIV.

Acting Director of Programmes Co-ordination Department of the agency, Dr. Priscilla Ibekwe yesterday, Wednesday, November 5 revealed this during the 2014 NACA/MDG outreach and HIV counselling and testing in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

Priscilla who was representing the Director General of the agency, Professor John Idoko, also revealed that 40% of this people are not aware of the HIV status and urged Nigerians to go to hospital and know their HIV status.

“NACA is working to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS in Nigeria to give opportunity to people to know their status, because it is better for people to know their status. When they know their status and find out they are negative, they will do everything to remain negative,” Priscilla said.
