Osun State Government on Saturday ordered the suspension of animal slaughtering in all abattoirs and meat shops across the state as from Monday, April 25 2016.
“The suspension of all slaughtering activities in the state is to sanitise animal slaughtering and other activities in the meat industry.
“It is also to meet up with the requisite standards of providing wholesome meat fit for human consumption,’’ it said.
The government advised all persons who wisjed to continue as butchers, to apply to the Veterinary Office nearest them for the renewal of their ‘Permit’ to slaughter animals.
Butchers were warned to stay away from slaughtering animals without following due process, stating that any violation would not be taken lightly.
