Woman in court for allegedly stealing N270,000
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Joseph Ajebe, told court that the offences were committed on May 17 at No. 3, Disu St., Baruwa in Ipaja.
The accused, who resides at No. 13, Alhaja Raheem St., Ayobo in Ipaja, near Lagos, is being tried for burglary and stealing.
Ajebe said that the accused burgled a safe belonging to her employer, Mrs Chioma Acho, and stole N270, 000.
“When the employer got to her shop and discovered that her safe had been burgled, she confronted the accused, who was unable to give any reasonable explanation."
“The woman went and reported to the police station and the accused was arrested,” Ajebe said.
The offences contravened Sections 280(1) and 309 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Alexander Komolafe, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Komolafe adjourned the case until June 7 for mention.
