Man jailed 15 years for raping 7-yr-old girl
A 42-year-old man in Bauchi has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping a seven-year-old girl.
The judgement which has been described as fair by a cross section of the public, was handed down to the 42-year-old Abdullahi by Justice Rabi Umar, a no nonsense judge of the Bauchi State High Court.
According to the state Director of Public Prosecutions, Dauda Yakubu, the accused forced the girl who is a neighbour's child, into his room where he brutally raped her and in the process, seriously injured her.
Abdullahi was said to have confessed to the crime and urged the court to have mercy on him but the judge would have none of that as she sentenced him to 15 years imprisonment and also fined the convict N3,000.
