One of the most notorious criminals in Nigeria has been finally arrested.

A notorious kidnapping and armed robbery kingpin, Henry Chibueze, also known as Vampire, who has been giving the police and residents of Imo State and environs sleepless nights, has finally been arrested by operatives of the Directorate of States Security (DSS).

The capture of the 28-years-old criminal was made possible after the security services in state went on an all out war for him following directives from the Governor, Rochas Okorocha.

The end of the road came for Vampire when he laid ambush to kidnap some Electoral Tribunal judges who were lodged at the Disney Hotels, located along Onitsha-Owerri Road.

Acting on a tip-off, security operatives swooped on his gang  and after a fierce gun battle, Vampire managed to escape with bullet wounds but was later arrested when he went to get treatment in the house of his elder brother’s wife, alongside the brother’s wife and her mother.

When he was paraded before the Governor, Vampire whose name was enough to send shivers down the spines of many in the state, told Okorocha that he operated in many parts of Nigeria and other West African countries like Cotonou in the Republic of Benin, Accra in Ghana and Abijan, Ivory Coast, where his family lives.

According to the suspect, his wife who hails from Cameroon, believes he is a big clothes dealer as he always went home with loads of money.

He also confessed to being behind many high profile kidnapping and in most cases, assassination of the victims, if they proved 'stubborn'.

Vampire who is an indigene of Nwangele Local Government Area in the state, also said that he once killed his girlfriend in Lagos and the whole of her family because she made away with his money running into N45 million after he opened a supermarket in Aba, Abia State.

Paraded alongside Vampire apart from his sister-in-law and her mother, were one Hakeem Bello from Kwara State, a deserter from the Nigerian Army, who provided cover for him with his Military identity card, and his personal native doctor, Alexander Ohigide.
