Late Doctor, Others Nominated For YNaija Person Of The Year Award

Stella Adadevoh alongside other eminent Nigerians are among the names short listed for the 2014 YNaija Person of the Year Award.

As Nigerians are still basking in the euphoria of the country being declared Ebola Free by World Health Organisation, many are beginning to recognise the efforts of Dr. Stella Adadevoh who was one of the main people responsible for curbing the deadly virus in Nigeria.

The Late Adadevoh was responsible for first diagnosing the Liberian man Patrick Sawyer who brought the Ebola Virus to Nigeria and thereafter placing him in quarantine despite refusal from the Liberian diplomat.

Dr Ameyo Stella Adadevoh of First Consultants Hospital died of the Ebola Virus after contracting it in the process of stopping Patrick Sawyer from leaving the hospital.

Since she passed, Dr. Stella has been hailed and praised for her valiant act across the world. She was announced on Tuesday, November 4 as one of the names short listed for the prestigious YNaija Person of the Year award alongside other notable Nigerians.

Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola, respected Nigerian author Chimamanda Adichie, Former Ministry of Education Obiageli Ezekwesili, Mobola Johnson, Adamu Muazu, Lanre Da Silva, Vincent Enyeama and a host of other well-meaning Nigerians were all shortlisted.

The YNaija Person of the Year is in its fourth year and is awarded to the individual who has most visibly influenced the Nigerian society for good in the past year, breaking new boundaries or consolidating on gains – and driving the advancement of the public, especially young people.

The 2012 winner was entrepreneur and Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote while tech industry blazer, Jason Njoku won in 2013.

Voting commences today, Monday, 3 November and closes after a month on Sunday, December 12.
