22-yr-old man rapes 15-yr-old mentally challenged girl

A 22-year-old man is in the dock for allegedly raping a mentally retarded 15-year-old girl.

Rape is a serious crime

Olatunji Olajuni, a 22-year-old Ondo State based man, is in for a very big trouble after he was dragged to an Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly raping a 15-year-old mentally deranged girl in his residence at Lane 7, Oduduwa Street, Okeigbo in Ileoluji/Okeigbo local government area of the state.

The prosecutor told the court that Olajuni, knowing the mental health of the girl, lured her into his room on May 27, and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her, an offence that contravenes the Criminal Code Cap 37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

When the two count charges of rape and assault was read to him, Olajuni pleaded not guilty and the Magistrate, Musa al-Yunus, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The magistrate further adjourned the case till July 7 for hearing.
