Officers of the police command in Enugu state have rescued two kidnapped victims from their abductors.

Kidnap

The spokesman for the state police command, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, made the disclosure while speaking with newsmen in Enugu on Tuesday, September 27.

He said that the victims identified as Mrs Roseline Odoh, 85, and her daughter, Josephine, were abducted from their home in Ogbelle Ohullor in Udenu LGA of the state on Thursday, September 22.

Amaraizu revealed that the victims were rescued the following day, September 23, thanks to useful information passed across to the police by concerned members of the public.

The victims were reportedly rescued unhurt in a bush located at Orokam in Benue State. He said that the police collaborated with the community's vigilante group which led to the successful rescue mission.

One of the suspects is reported to have died from bullet wounds he sustained during a shootout with the police.

Amaraizu said that the command recovered a Renault car with registration number, UWN 992 LN, which was used by the suspects during their operations. The arrested suspects are reportedly helping the police in their investigations.
