40-Yr-Old mechanic in court for allegedly stealing truck parts worth N600K
The prosecutor said the complainant gave his truck to a mechanic to repair but was vandalised while it was still under repairs.
Oladeinde, whose address is unknown, is facing a charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Eigbejiale, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 17 at 12.00 p.m. at Mechanic Village, Obada-Oko near Abeokuta.
Eigbejiale said the accused, a mechanic operating at the mechanic village, alleged stole truck tyres valued at N500,000, a battery valued at N65,000, a hydraulic jack valued at N9,000 and N22,750 cash, all valued at N600,000, property of the complainant, Mr Adeogun Ademola.
The prosecutor said the complainant gave his truck to a mechanic to repair, and while it was still under repairs, the accused removed some parts and sold them.
The offence contravened Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun 2006.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Ruling on the bail application of the accused, Magistrate Oriyomi Sofowora granted him N250,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
She said the sureties must be gainfully employed and also show evidence of tax payment to the government.
She adjourned the case until July 17 for hearing.
