Cameroonian Journalist Escapes Bomb Attack In Douala!
His major reports on security forces became worrisome to the government. Was he the target?
According to the Committee to Project Journalists in the country, Nkwebo – editor of the Le Jour daily newspaper and English correspondent for Radio France International (RFI) - had been warned by the government to be careful over his coverage of security forces.
Nkwebo is confirmed alive and wasn't hurt in the explosion.
According to Yahoo News today April 25, Nkwebo had documented shortcomings of security forces in regions of Cameroon bordering Nigeria - where the Boko Haram terrorist network is carrying out deadly attacks - and Central Africa Republic where Cameroonian forces have been drawn into skirmishes.
In a statement on Monday April 21, a defense ministry spokesman reportedly disputed Nkwebo's reporting and four days after a bomb exploded in front of his house destroying his car.
No comment has been made by the Cameroon government or the Ministry of Defence so far.
