A 29-year-old Turkish man, Veysi Turan, has been sentenced to life in prison after he was found guilty of electrocuting his wife to death because she gave birth to a second baby girl when he actually wanted a male child.
Man electrocutes wife top death for giving birth to girl child
A husband who was expecting a baby boy from his wife has electrocuted her to death for giving him a girl child.
Turan committed the crime while his wife was asleep. The court heard how Turan carefully planned and carried out the murder by buying the electric cables and exposing the wires. After that, he attached the exposed wires to his wife's feet and plugged them into an outlet, electrocuting her.
Medical reports showed that the wife, Muberek, died after being awakened by the electric shocks.
While in court, Turan confessed that he killed his wife in a fit of rage a day after the birth of their new baby girl.
But prosecutors say that the murder was premeditated as he had purchased the power cord, thick gloves and insulated rubber plugs for use in the murder just one day before he carried out the fatal attack.
