Police Inspector shoots self dead in Lagos

A case of accidental discharge was recorded in Lagos when a police officer mistakenly shot himself while adjusting gun.

The police has also recorded its own accidental discharge

An Inspector of Police attached to the Mobile Police Force 20, Ikeja, Lagos, identified as Medugwu, has been sent to the great beyond by a service rifle after he mistakenly shot himself while adjusting the weapon.

It was gathered that the unfortunate man who was the was the second-in-command to the MOPOL 20 armourer, accidentally pulled the trigger of the rifle and released a bullet which shattered his jaw, shattering a large portion of his head.

The incident, according to police report, happened on Tuesday, August 25 at about 10am when a policeman took the faulty rifle to Medugwu to examine and adjust it but he inadvertently used it to kill himself while he was trying to set it back to its normal position.

The report adds that he was rushed to the nearby Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, where he gave up the ghost in the afternoon at about 1pm.
