Abuja police apprehend 5-man gang
One of the suspects paraded explained that he and his gang did not kidnap the woman as had been alleged.
According to the Daily Post, the kidnappers requested a ransom of N15m from the parents of the unnamed lady.
Luck however ran out on them after falling for a bait of N7m, which was used to fish out the criminals from their hideout.
This proved to be a good idea as they were arrested while trying to collect the money.
Speaking to newsmen concerning the arrest, the Commissioner of Police for the FCT, Mohammad Mustafa, said “On July 27, 2016, the gang waylaid and kidnapped a lady from Maitama in Abuja and took her to a guest inn in Sokoto where she was held hostage and locked up in a toilet."
“The culprits then contacted the victim’s family and demanded N15m as ransom, which was later reduced to N7m after much negotiation with her family."
“While this was going on, a team of eagle-eyed police detectives kept vigil as the suspects made frantic efforts to pick up the ransom at a location in Zamfara State."

The suspects, Ifeanyi Paul, 34; Chukwuemeka Michael, 28; Matthew Obi, 29; Husseini Abdullahi, 35; and Musa Lawan, 27; reportedly hid the lady at a hotel in Sokoto State.
One of the gang members, , Ifeanyi Paul, said a politician who was named invited them to Sokoto.
According to him, they were requested to guard the kidnapped lady at the hotel.
