The Assistant Director, Man Power Planning of the NYSC, Aremu Kehinde, said this last Wednesday while addressing students the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) at a program organized by the school’s Division of Student Affairs and the Corps.

Kehinde said Nigerian graduates have a wrong mindset about the compulsory one-year service.

“Most people enter the NYSC with the wrong mindset and I don’t want you to have that," Kehinde said.

"I want you to enter into the youth service with the mind that it is for your benefit and not as time wastage as many of the corps members see it."

According to him, the Corps gives members an opportunity to serve.

“The youth service allows you to give service.

"Service is actually things for people without expecting gratification.”

The Deputy Director revealed that the Corps constantly lobbies the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) to negotiate an increase in corps member's allowances.
