The European Parliament, the parliamentary institution of the European Union (EU), has promised to help in the rescue and education of the abducted Chibok girls.
We'll help rescue, educate Chibok girls — European Parliament
Delegates from the European Parliament the winner of the 2015 Presidential polls must have a plan on how to rescue the abducted Chibok girls and they are ready to help.
Delegates from the Parliament disclosed this on Monday when they joined the sit-out by #BringBackOurGirls group at the Unity Fountain, Abuja.
About 300 girls were abducted from the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, on the night of 14–15 April 2014 by Boko Haram insurgents.
Some of them escaped and a few others were rescued.
But over 200 of the girls are believed to still be in captivity and the Bring Back Our Girls group has been pressuring the government to rescue them.
A member of the Parliament, Cecile Kashetu Kyenge, said they are in Nigeria to 'observe the election' but are concerned about the government's plan to rescue the girl and give them their right to education.
"I will go back to Europe and the parliament to say that it is not just for the abducted girls but for our lives and for the women because everybody must have a chance to be educated," Kyenge said.
"As a woman, I know we must support you and lend our voice to the BringBackOurGirls cry.
"It is not only a hashtag, it is our lives.
Kyenge said the winner of the 2015 Presidential polls must have a plan on how to rescue the abducted girls.
"The winner of the election must have an agenda on how to rescue the girls. For us it is important.
"It is more important for me because I come from Africa."
The European Union deployed an Election Observation Mission (EOM) to observe the Presidential, Parliamentary and then Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections in Nigeria.
