Institution graduates 65 1st class students

Afe Babalola University (ABUAD), Ekiti, is set to graduate 65 first class students on its convocation ceremony on the 21st of October.

Afe Babalola University (ABUAD), Ekiti, says 65 students will receive First Class degrees at the institution’s convocation scheduled to hold on October 21, P.M News reports.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Michael Ajisafe on Sunday told newsmen during a pre-convocation press conference that 339 students made second class upper division, 258 got second class lower division while 74 made third class.

The first class students came from Law, three in Medicine, 19 in Engineering, two in Arts, 14 in Sciences and 20 in Management Science.

Ajisafe announced that each of the first class recipients would be rewarded with N500, 000, second class upper division honourees will be given N200,000 as a way of further promoting academic excellence.

According to him, the university has grown with a student population of 6,000, saying the National Universities Commission recently described its Law Faculty as the best in West Africa.

He said:

"Four eminent Nigerians, including Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Prof. Attahiru Jega, Bishop Mathew Kukah as well as former Chairman of ICPC, Justice Emmanuel Ayoola will be awarded honorary degrees of the university."
