Can you really say you know everything there is know about this religious group?

Pulse Religion offers some insight into this organization. Here are five interesting beliefs this religious group holds dearly.

The name

The group is named after Jehovah, who is seen as the one true God in the Bible.

This name, in particular, is regarded as His unique name, as seen in Exodus 3:15 and Psalm 83:18.

In Hebrew, it means “to become.”

The Watchtower

This group’s popular publication was originally done by Charles Taze Russell.

He was the first editor and one of the first leaders of the group.

Jesus

For Jehovah’s Witnesses, Jesus is simply God’s first creation. Therefore, He is not equal to the Creator, Jehovah.

They believe that He is the Archangel Michael in Heaven and just a man on earth.

Contrary to the very popular notion that Jesus was crucified on a cross, this group says he died on a stake or pole.

This is based on their belief that the Bible condemns pagan symbols which include the cross.

Holy Spirit

Members believe that the Holy Spirit is what Jehovah uses to carry out His will.

This is based on Micah 3:8, Luke 1:35,  Psalm 104:30 and 139:7.

Hence, the Holy Spirit is seen as an active force, not a person.

End Times

According to Jehovah’s Witnesses,  this period is when “God will destroy all elements of corrupt human society and remove the wicked. Survivors of this system’s end are “the living” who will be judged.”

They also believe that only 144,000 Jehovah’s Witnesses will go to heaven while an earthly paradise will be enjoyed by the rest.

Fun Fact: Their notorious go door-to-door evangelism tactic is from the Bible. (See Acts 5:42;20:20)
